Diabetes Education
Lincoln County Public Health is now offering Diabetes Education by our diabetes educators, both RNs, to anyone who has Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes or Gestational diabetes.
Classes are typically comprised of 4, approximately hour-long classes and can be done in either group or individual classes, based on your preference. The client sets their individual goals.
Educational topics for these classes include:
- Nutrition: carbohydrate counting
- Lifestyle Change: improving outcomes
- Complication of diabetes: heart attack, stroke, blindness, kidney disease
- Monitoring blood glucose: what the numbers mean
- Exercise
- Medications
Our nurse educator can discuss all these topics and more with you.
Feeling better, staying active, eating well and reducing your reliance on medications: to reach your goals you need support every step of the way.
Public Health encourages referral to Diabetes Education from your healthcare provider or you can give us a call to schedule yourself a class.
